Kids are the winners as inaugural pro-celebrity fly fishing event raises thousands for charity!

Friday June 19th saw Meon Springs trout fishery in Hampshire welcoming over 70 specially invited fly fishers. The event was organised by Chris Dulley Owner and Managing Director of DCP, working with him to make the event extra special were the pro-celebrity captains led by Sir Ian Botham, already a noted celebrity angler with a TV series and book - “Botham on Fishing” under his belt, and Charles Jardine who is probably the pre-eminent fly fisher of his generation.

Sir Ian Botham

Former Wimbledon soccer player and now ITV commentator Robbie Earle was there too, as was Gary Brooker –lead singer of 60’s group Procul Harum (Whiter Shade of Pale) and a regular guest these days in Eric Clapton’s “and friends” line-up. The long-distance travel award went to Liam Botham famous for his cricket and rugby career, who had flown in especially from South Africa that morning to attend the event.

The Children’s Trust was the beneficiaries of this money raised provide care, education, therapy and rehabilitation to children with multiple disabilities and complex health needs. The most moving part of the day was when one of their past patients described how the Trust had given him back his life after a road traffic accident in which he was left in a coma and doctors originally diagnosed he would be unable to do anything should he survive.

Well done to all and a big thank you for the £1000s raised on the day.

Health and Safety
DCP has recently been awarded CHAS compliance status. This has been a rigorous test by the CHAS Inspectors of DCP’s Health and Safety policy and actions. Also DCP has carried out its twice yearly review of its Health and Safety policy and has introduced activities to strengthen its drive towards reducing accidents to zero.

Events Calendar
DCP are holding a Sub contractors evening planned in the early autumn of 2009 for their site based teams. Nick Atkinson said the idea behind these events is that our site teams are integral to our business success. We value their skill and experience, so as part of the support and communication strategy of the company we have invited all our main people to join us to update them on our Health and Safety policies, together with PASMA refresher training. They will get a chance to interact with the management team and exchange ideas on how we can all achieve better safety on site and seek innovation, and to have an insight into the way we see the company direction.
